Corrective Chiropractic Care

Corrective Chiropractic Care, Austin, TexasWhat is Corrective Care?

Corrective care is is treatment that addresses the source of the problem instead of addressing the symptoms. This type of care is aimed at handling the problem and not masking or covering it up.

For example, a person might have dislocated his shoulder. The irritated nerves can cause severe pain in the shoulder and chest.
Relief care focuses on the symptoms: The sensation of pain. Relief care would be similar to taking aspirin which, although it may temporarily alleviate the pain, does nothing to correct the cause.

Corrective care would address the cause, the dislocated joint by putting it back into place. This would result in correction of the problem not just the symptoms.

The difference between relief care and corrective care can be illustrated by the following. Let’s say your house is cold because your furnace is not producing heat. For relief care you could buy an electric heater which could take care of your immediate discomfort. In the long run, however, running an electric heater is both less effective and more expensive than fixing the furnace.

Correction would have been to simply fix the furnace. Although it may have cost more initially, it would save you money in the long run.

Why choose only Relief Care?

Failure to understand the benefits of corrective care is the main reason people choose relief care. Corrective chiropractic care can give more permanent results and cost less over time.

How Long Does Corrective Care Take?

A corrective care program may be between 1 and 6 months of intenive care followed with a a program of stabilization. Correcting a person’s structure is similar to pouring cement into a mold. If you remove the mold before the cement hardens, you lose the object you wanted to create.

After the intensive phase of corrective care, a stabilization program of weekly or monthly visits will be necessary to hold your structure in place until it stabilizes. The doctor will discuss this with you so you unterstand what will be best for you.

Great Reasons To Continue Care

Continue Your Progress

Research shows that the pain and symptoms go ayaw much faster than the ligaments and muscles supporting the spine are returned to an optimum condition. Continuing the program past the aleviation of pain is proven to give a faster long term health than intermittent care.

Prevent a relapse

Muscles and bones in the spine are likely to return to unhealthy positions without continued chiropractic care. The corrective care phase retrains and strengthens muscles to help maintain a more correct position.
